Returns and warranty claims are the fastest way to lose margin and reputation in the cooker business. After 15+ years of OEM/ODM production, we've seen the same failure points repeat across the industry. Here are the five issues importers fear most — and the concrete controls a trustworthy factory uses to prevent them.
1. PCB / IGBT failure (no power, dead unit)
The IGBT module and control board are the heart of an induction cooker. Cheap boards with poor soldering or underspecced IGBTs fail within months, especially in high-temperature markets.
What a reliable factory does: uses branded IGBTs (e.g. Infineon / ST), wave-soldering with AOI inspection, and 100% power-on burn-in testing before packing.
2. Glass plate cracking
The ceramic glass takes thermal and physical stress. Low-grade glass or improper cushioning during shipping leads to cracks on arrival.
What a reliable factory does: specifies tempered microcrystalline glass (e.g. Schott / Eurokera grade or verified equivalent), with foam and corner protectors engineered for sea freight.
3. Coil / heating inefficiency
A poorly wound copper coil loses efficiency and overheats, shortening the unit's life and raising complaints about "slow heating."
What a reliable factory does: uses 100% copper (not aluminum-clad) coils, verified winding specs, and coil-to-glass gap tolerance checked per batch.
4. Overheating & cooling failure
Without proper fan and thermal cutoff design, units shut down mid-cooking — the #1 complaint in hot-climate markets (Africa, Middle East).
What a reliable factory does: dual-fan or high-CFM cooling, NTC sensors with automatic thermal throttling, and overheat auto-shutoff validated in chamber tests.
5. Safety & certification gaps
Missing or fake certifications block customs and expose buyers to liability. "CE" stickers without real testing are a known trap.
What a reliable factory does: builds to the safety standards required by the destination market, provides traceable test documentation, and offers multi-layer protection (overheat, overvoltage, child lock, auto-shutoff).
Your QC checklist when visiting a factory: ask to see the burn-in test area, the IGBT brand, the glass grade, and the actual test report — not just a "CE" sticker.
